I gotta brag on Andy for a few minutes, cuz I'm just so excited about how popular he's been with the mainstream national jounalists this week.
I think it started off on Wednesday with a call from a producer at 60 Minutes. Yep, that's right. 60 Minutes. The TV show. They were doing a segment on online privacy, data mining, the AOL data leak and wireless wire tapping, and who do they turn to as a resource? Andy. Of course. They found him through his blog. (He had blogged on all that stuff.)
Then, I think that same day, he gets a phone call from Thomas Hargrove from Howard Scripps News Service. They're releasing a new demographic study on blogging and journalism and how people gather news by age, background, work status and geographic location, and they wanted his reaction on it. His reaction! Again, they became aware of him through his blog. So cool!
By this time, I'm thinking, "What an exciting week for Andy. Couldn't get any better."
But it did. On Thursday he Skypes me and says "Just got off the phone with USA Today." I think that journalist had a copy of his book Blogwild! and wanted to interview him for a piece on blogging they're publishing in September.
As I'm mentally trying to tabulate the major journalists and TV shows that contacted him this week as an expert resource on, not only blogging, but the stuff he blogs about, he Skypes me a link to yet another news item where he's been quoted, this time in an article regarding how Americans use blogs to get news.
At this point, I'm half expecting Skype to pop up on my screen with a message from Andy saying: "Oprah called."
Who knows? He's on fire, and the week's not over yet.:-)

If Andy gets a call from Oprah, I'll get cable service just so I can watch him on TV! OK, I'll get TIVO service, too.
Andy's blog is wonderful to read, interesting, informative, and hearing that he's getting recognized makes me so happy for him because he's also such a great guy.
Thanks, Sharon, for sharing this Andy-news.

Are you kidding? Forget the cable. I've already promised Andy that when, not if, but WHEN, he appears on Oprah, that I'll be right there in the front row of the audience cheering him on. Sharon..... Verna....care to join me?

I'm there with ya Lisa!
Andy is sky-rocketing to out-of-this-world levels of success, and I don't even know if he fully grasps that fact yet.
He's attracting major media attention, not through any slick marketing tricks or PR campaign, but by simply working hard at doing what he does best and by being himself. It's happening naturally.
I feel a "tipping point" coming on. I don't know what's going to be the thing that sends him completely over the edge and vaults him into the stratosphere, but there's no doubt that it's on the way.
There's some powerful mojo brewing in Andy's camp!
