When I was growing up, I always thought I would end up being an artist, a writer or something creative. I studied painting for 4 years in college, then chickened out and switched majors at the last minute.
A bit belatedly I wondered, “What kind of job can someone with a degree in Painting get?”
I still don’t know. I think it’s probably something you have to do just for the love of it and that you can't really learn from anyone else.
So, in an effort to be somewhat more practical I got my degree in English (with dreams of becoming a writer, or at the very least a very cool college professor), yet somehow when I joined the real world I ended up working in the decidedly not-so-creative field of administrative support.
I did that for almost 10 years, until it hit me that I was so far away from what I had dreamed I would become that I had to make drastic changes just to get myself back on the right track.
So, I left the corporate world. I moved from Atlanta back to my home town. I got a dog. I started my own business. I asked for paint brushes and canvas for my birthday.
I created a business called Streamline Virtual Office Solutions. I partner with folks with internet technology and web media companies. I manage the daily operations of their online businesses and streamline processes to maximize personal and business productivity.
I get a lot of pleasure out of nurturing and supporting business owners who I like and who I see potential in.
My name is Sharon Sarmiento, and I live in the southern United States.
The eSoup blog is an outlet for my ideas and observations about my favorite topics: web media, productivity, creativity, virtual entrepreneurism, marketing and living an interesting life that doesn't necessarily conform to what everyone else is doing.
'Tis all for now. Thanks for stopping by!
